Hokuhoku Street once flourished as a post town. Kenshin Uesugi, Daimyo known as Dragon of Echigo in Sengoku period used to stay here on his way to Edo capital from Kasugayama Castle in Joetsu. Karl Bengs pictured the image of this street more than 20 years back from now. Then he moved his office from Taketokoro village to Matsudai and opened a café with his architectural design office.
